Long labour, intense birth, a film still fresh in our minds with a strong subject matter. From 2003 up until today, Citizen Berlusconi - written and directed by Andrea Cairola & Susan Gray - has been subjected to criticism, high acclaim and boycotts.The Italian government has been "personally" involved with Citizen Berlusconi, pushing for it not to be screened in European documentary festivals (Oslo) and broadcast on Television channels (Arte). The only result achieved here was increasing the films success.In Italy Citizen Berlusconi has been screened in various festivals and hosted at public screenings.

The film has also spread over the internet with blogs and web-sites offering the possibility to download it. It spins a debate that we consider necessary.After being viewed in more than 25 countries, the film was finally broadcast on Italian television in June 2009 by Al Gore’s channel Current TV (the first broadcast was on 22/6/2009). For this occasion Andrea Cairola and production company STEFILM created an additional pod, explaining how Citizen was born and updating us on the state of the Italian media from 2003 'till today.
